Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers a refined private golf experience just a short drive from Edison in Central New Jersey. This 18-hole championship course presents a classic parkland setting marked by mature hardwoods and gently rolling terrain that stretches across well-placed fairways and meticulously maintained greens. The layout strikes a careful balance between strategic challenge and approachable playability, catering to a wide range of golfers from rising amateurs to low handicappers seeking to test their skills.

The course is defined by a sequence of holes that reward thoughtful shot placement and course management. Fairways are framed by established trees that come into play on several holes, while bunkers are thoughtfully positioned to protect favored angles into the greens. The putting surfaces demand attention and touch, featuring subtle breaks that will test your green-reading ability without seeming punitive. Water hazards appear selectively, adding visual contrast but also strategic intrigue without overwhelming risk.

Players will find the terrain smooth enough to accommodate walking, with natural contouring that eases movement between holes. The quiet surroundings and mature landscaping provide a sense of calm that enhances concentration and focus. Club amenities underscore the members-only character of Plainfield Country Club, featuring a well-appointed clubhouse where players can relax before or after rounds, along with practice facilities designed to sharpen all areas of the game.

Seasonal conditions in New Jersey invite play primarily from spring through fall, with cooler months requiring preparation and appropriate attire. While the course challenges more advanced players with length and precision demands, its fairways and larger landing areas allow beginners and casual players to enjoy a satisfying round.

For golfers seeking a private course that melds tradition with well-maintained grounds and thoughtfully designed holes, Plainfield Country Club offers both comfort and competition. Its proximity to Edison makes it accessible for members living in the region, while the quality of the conditioning and thoughtful design ensures each round feels purposeful and rewarding.

Played golf here and had a blast. The hot springs are well worth the visit as well! I have not stayed in the resort itself. So, my rating is based on the golf and hot springs experiences.

My grandparents were founding members of Terrace Lakes Resort. The road that their property was on was named for my grandpa. My entire youth was spent riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, swimming in the pool, golfing with my grandpa and hanging out in the lodge. I was super excited to share this same magical experience with my husband, our daughter and son-in-law for father's day. We rented one of the resorts cabins for one night, ate two meals at the lodge, rented 2 carts, played 9 holes and swam in the pool. All in we paid over $400. When we arrived at the lodge, it was obvious that the building had fallen into disrepair. The lady that checked us in seemed irritated that we there and was incredibly rude. When we arrived at the cabin, the first thing we saw was two overflowing ashtrays on the porch. The inside was no better! It was dirty and dingy, the coffee maker leaked everywhere, and the water smelled so much of sulfur, it was obviously not even filtered. The bed was not just gross, it was literally impossible for 2 people to be in. Breakfast was an even worse experience! The restaurant is down right dilapidated! The cream for our coffee was expired and curdled, and the food inedible. Lunch was no better. The worst part of the experience, by far, was what happened on the golf course. Our tee time was Monday morning at 10am, we arrived at 1st tee at 9:55. While we were getting ready some other folks came up behind us so we told them that my daughter and I are just learning, so we let them go ahead. As we played the course we allowed 3 or 4 other couples or groups to play through. When we arrived at the 7th tee we saw a couple of older men coming up on us, so we pulled over into the shade to let them play through. But instead of being grateful they cussed us out for taking too long and stormed off the course. By the time we reached the 8th tee the golf course duty showed up! He started by saying that multiple people had come into the pro shop and commented on how polite we had been, but then he went on to say that those last 2 men came in and threw an absolute fit about us, so he came out to tell us that we could finish the last 2 holes, but if us girls didn't know how to golf any better than that WE DIDN'T BELONG ON THE COURSE! If beginners are not welcome on the course, they had no business taking our $$! I am absolutely horrified! I will never go back! What a shame!

This place is kind of bizarre. I follow them on Instagram and based on the pics and videos there, plus some positive reviews here, my family and I drove over 2 hrs to swim in their hot springs pool the day after Mother’s Day for a day late celebration. When we arrived, nothing looked like it did online. It was sad, dilapidated. The pool was completely empty. After wandering around a few minutes trying to figure out if we even arrived at the right place, a lady on a golf cart drove by and I asked about the hot springs pool. She was friendly, but looked confused and said there are no hot pools. She went into an office or something and asked another older lady, who was also kind of confused and said there are no hot springs except maybe half hour or so away. After explaining some more and showing them the Terrace Lakes Resort instagram story posted literally just hours earlier, they said oh yes, the pool is right there but it’s empty for some reason today. I asked to use a restroom and was directed to inside the closed restaurant. Walking through the restaurant, I would never eat there even when their “pipe repairs” are done. It was filthy and hadn’t been properly cleaned or cared for in probably decades. We were handed a brochure that had a few natural springs listed and that was our visit. So weird, and disappointing. Will not be returning.

Skip this place!!! We walked in and the lady checking us in for our reservation seemed put out to be bothered. Getting info about the place was like pulling teeth! No one (not that there were many people there) smiled or even acknowledged us. The rooms? We had just come from the Grove Hotel in Boise and we paid less to stay there with a pool, hot tub, wet and dry sauna, with a very nice restaurant and bar than we did here! The "motel" is a glorified double wide formed into 8 TINY rooms. The tub/shower is elevated and forget about getting hot water (at a location that has a geothermal heated pool! ) None of the floors are level, the smoke detectors were all gone, one door had a deadbolt that didn't have a hole in the frame to lock, and the "TV"... it's an old 17 inch computer monitor mounted at the top of the wall!!! We were told the pool was open until 8pm (winter hours) which was ok. But while we were in the pool they posted a sign saying it was closing early at 7pm. The pool is not part of the resort but you can swim as part of your stay. If you don't bring towels they charge you for them. There's no hot tub just the pool. The only food is frozen stuff that has to be fried. Chicken strips, burger patties and fries. So we went back into the little town to have dinner. When we got back just after 8pm the pool was full of locals swimming! Such a shame and a waste of time.
