Cedar Creek Golf Course

Bayville, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Cedar Creek Golf Course in Bayville, NJ offers an approachable 18-hole public layout designed for accessibility and casual play. This parkland-style course delivers straightforward fairways and manageable greens, making it suitable for beginners and those seeking an affordable round close to home.

Course Overview

Cedar Creek Golf Course, located in Bayville, New Jersey, offers an 18-hole public layout that presents a straightforward golfing experience for players seeking affordable access to the game. The course unfolds across a generally flat terrain, characteristic of many municipal facilities, with an emphasis on accessibility over architectural complexity. The setting includes modest tree lines and natural vegetation, framing fairways that lean more toward functional than manicured aesthetics, while providing a no-frills environment for casual rounds.

The design of Cedar Creek reflects a traditional parkland style with moderate length holes that challenge a broad spectrum of golfers. Par for the course aligns with municipal standards, encouraging steady play without demanding extensive power or precision to score. Its open fairways permit generous landing areas, yet the rough, when present, can quickly test errant shots. Greens are maintained with a focus on playability rather than speed or subtlety, inviting putts that allow golfers to hone fundamentals in a less pressured setting.

While the course has faced several challenges in maintenance, it remains a community staple that appeals primarily to beginners, families, and players seeking an affordable outing close to home. The driving range provides a practical space for warm-ups and practice, though some facilities may show signs of wear.

Visitors should prepare for varied course conditions and consider bringing extra tees and balls due to ground firmness. Walking is possible, and the relatively flat layout eases foot traffic, but shoes with sturdy soles are recommended. The pace of play on busy days can be slow, reflecting its popularity among local players.

Cedar Creek serves as an introductory ground in the Central New Jersey golf landscape, prioritizing access and social play over championship challenge. Golfers looking for a relaxed round with a sense of community will find value here, especially when balanced against nearby higher-tier courses. Planning a visit during off-peak hours can enhance enjoyment of this accessible public course’s earning potential in this crowded market.

Course Highlights

Cedar Creek features a straightforward parkland layout with wide fairways framed by natural trees and vegetation. The course offers a practical driving range and approachable green complexes. This course went downhill fast, just two months into the season and it’s already a mess. Charging $60 for a town course is outrageous. I was told the greens had offseason work done, but it’s hard to tell. The driving range is worse, not a single mat in decent shape. Where is all the extra money going? I know at least a dozen people who won’t be coming back this year. It’s honestly sad to see what’s happened here. Hopefully the property manager gets things together or the town replaces him entirely. I’ve heard another course already dropped him, probably for similar reasons. Would love to come back once they fix it up.

Played the front nine today. We had a 3:00P tee time. When we drove up to the first tee there were three separate groups on the fairway and three more in front of us at the tee box. Tee boxes are totally devoid of grass. Broke two tees off trying to tee up on the hardpack. Fairways are OK down the middle but the outsides and rough are more dirt than grass. Bunkers are not sand, some kind of crushed rock composite. Greens are OK but they were aerated recently and have not been sanded so your putts track like a pinball. Pace of play is abominable, We quit after two hours and five minutes on the 7th tee. It's a hacker's heaven,; on the 5th hole we had groups in front of us from two other approaching holes into back into us. Keep your head on a swivel here. One of the groups in front of us was a fivesome. My wife and I played with our 14 year old grandson. $150.00 for the three of us for nine holes with carts. We quit after 6! If they have a starter and ranger they keep them well hidden. Muni golf at its worst. Forget it!

I really hate to leave a 1 star review on this place but the insane price increase and stricter rules have actually forced me to change home courses. Looking online currently and you actually have the option to reserve a 6pm tee time for 18 roles at $60 or 9 at $50. Absolutely insane. No more singles either? Similar courses in the area only charge 35-40 and they aren’t connected to a park with lots of background noise. Only redeeming quality is that it does have a golf range that’s average. The staff has always been extremely kind

Decent golf course, usually go during the week, pretty available tee times. I would say they need to upgrade their Car Paths ,most of which are pretty beat up

Never played a golf course in worse shape than Cedar Creek. Fairviews were terrible hardly any grass. The T boxes were all dug up and rarely pointed to the fairway. The greens were fine. Have not played here since the Covid days. What happened to the golf course management? Won't be back this golf season.

Some of the range balls were cracked, in terrible condition and the terrains were super rough. The chef was being super rude when I asked him a simple question. Overall the workers seemed like they were not having a good day.
