Cedar Creek Golf Course

Bayville, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Cedar Creek Golf Course is a public 18-hole layout in Bayville, NJ, presenting a traditional parkland experience with wide fairways and modestly challenging greens. It suits players seeking an accessible round amid a natural, straightforward setting, offering value despite fluctuating course conditions.

Course Overview

Cedar Creek Golf Course, located in Bayville, New Jersey, offers a public 18-hole layout that challenges golfers with its straightforward design amid a natural, parkland setting. The course unfolds through gently rolling terrain, framed by stands of mature trees and occasional wetlands, creating an environment that feels comfortably rural yet accessible. Its layout favors players who appreciate a traditional experience without the complexity of densely wooded or overly long holes.

The fairways at Cedar Creek are wide, providing ample room for tee shots but with rough and limited grass coverage that can catch errant balls, making accuracy essential. Greens are relatively small and can prompt careful approach shots, though they have undergone seasonal maintenance affecting surface consistency at times. The course length and par setup cater primarily to mid- and high-handicap players seeking an affordable, casual round rather than seasoned low handicappers looking for significant technical challenge.

Although the overall conditions fluctuate throughout the year—largely influenced by maintenance cycles and weather—the course offers a variety of hole lengths and layouts that encourage strategic play. Golfers should note that some bunkers have a more rugged, crushed rock base rather than traditional sand, which affects shot bounce and recovery tactics.

Amenities at Cedar Creek include a driving range with mixed turf mats and an on-site clubhouse delivering basic services. Locals value the course as a community staple, although reports suggest pace of play and turf conditions call for some patience and flexibility. Walking the course is possible, but players might consider sturdy footwear due to uneven surfaces and patchy grass.

For those planning a visit, early tee times can mitigate slower play during busier periods, and familiarity with challenging lies in rough areas will improve scoring chances. While the course may not offer the polish of private or resort facilities, it presents a down-to-earth golfing option where the landscape and playability retain a practical, approachable character. Cedar Creek remains an option for golfers who prioritize value and a straightforward parkland round over pristine presentation.

Course Highlights

Cedar Creek features a straightforward parkland layout with wide fairways and occasional wetlands. Bunkers are composed of crushed rock materials rather than traditional sand, influencing approach shot strategy. The course emphasizes accessibility and value, favored by local players despite inconsistent turf conditions and occasional pace-of-play challenges.

This course went downhill fast, just two months into the season and it’s already a mess. Charging $60 for a town course is outrageous. I was told the greens had offseason work done, but it’s hard to tell. The driving range is worse, not a single mat in decent shape. Where is all the extra money going? I know at least a dozen people who won’t be coming back this year. It’s honestly sad to see what’s happened here. Hopefully the property manager gets things together or the town replaces him entirely. I’ve heard another course already dropped him, probably for similar reasons. Would love to come back once they fix it up.

I really hate to leave a 1 star review on this place but the insane price increase and stricter rules have actually forced me to change home courses. Looking online currently and you actually have the option to reserve a 6pm tee time for 18 roles at $60 or 9 at $50. Absolutely insane. No more singles either? Similar courses in the area only charge 35-40 and they aren’t connected to a park with lots of background noise. Only redeeming quality is that it does have a golf range that’s average. The staff has always been extremely kind

$60 for dirt patches everywhere including the greens is criminal

Decent golf course, usually go during the week, pretty available tee times. I would say they need to upgrade their Car Paths ,most of which are pretty beat up

Never played a golf course in worse shape than Cedar Creek. Fairviews were terrible hardly any grass. The T boxes were all dug up and rarely pointed to the fairway. The greens were fine. Have not played here since the Covid days. What happened to the golf course management? Won't be back this golf season.

Some of the range balls were cracked, in terrible condition and the terrains were super rough. The chef was being super rude when I asked him a simple question. Overall the workers seemed like they were not having a good day.

Played the front nine today. We had a 3:00P tee time. When we drove up to the first tee there were three separate groups on the fairway and three more in front of us at the tee box. Tee boxes are totally devoid of grass. Broke two tees off trying to tee up on the hardpack. Fairways are OK down the middle but the outsides and rough are more dirt than grass. Bunkers are not sand, some kind of crushed rock composite. Greens are OK but they were aerated recently and have not been sanded so your putts track like a pinball. Pace of play is abominable, We quit after two hours and five minutes on the 7th tee. It's a hacker's heaven,; on the 5th hole we had groups in front of us from two other approaching holes into back into us. Keep your head on a swivel here. One of the groups in front of us was a fivesome. My wife and I played with our 14 year old grandson. $150.00 for the three of us for nine holes with carts. We quit after 6! If they have a starter and ranger they keep them well hidden. Muni golf at its worst. Forget it!
