Eastman Golf Links

Grantham, New Hampshire, USACentral New Hampshire

Eastman Golf Links is an 18-hole public parkland course in Grantham, New Hampshire, known for its significant elevation changes and thoughtfully maintained layout. Combining challenging uphill approaches with inviting fairways, it offers a rewarding experience for golfers seeking a terrain-driven test in a welcoming atmosphere.

Course Overview

Eastman Golf Links offers an 18-hole test tucked into the rolling landscape of Grantham, New Hampshire. This public course stretches across varied terrain, presenting players with a parkland-style layout defined by elevation changes and natural features that influence every shot. Unlike courses that wrap tightly around residential areas, Eastman threads through its surroundings with a sense of openness, giving each hole breathing room even as it intertwines with nearby neighborhoods.

The course’s defining characteristic is its undulating terrain; significant elevation shifts lead to uphill approaches and blind tee shots, demanding thoughtful club selection and course management. Golfers new to the course should be prepared for these challenges, as navigating fairways that climb and fall can affect distance control and shot accuracy. The maintained fairways and approachable greens reward precise play while remaining accessible enough for players of varying skill levels. Moisture can soften some fairway landing areas, so mid-to-late summer rounds typically showcase firmer conditions and truer surfaces.

Eastman combines straightforward holes with strategically placed hazards, including bunkers that guard key landing zones and water features that come into play on several holes. This balance invites a range of shotmaking—from conservative approaches to bolder swings depending on the situation. The course’s staff are known for welcoming players warmly, offering helpful guidance and resources such as a concise course guide that outlines hole strategy, particularly useful for first-time visitors unacquainted with the unique elevation challenges.

A recently updated fleet of carts ensures comfortable traversal of the course’s slopes, though walking is possible for those prepared with good footwear and stamina to manage hills. The on-site clubhouse provides a welcoming space to unwind and study course maps or enjoy refreshments after a round.

Eastman Golf Links appeals to golfers seeking a compelling public venue in central New Hampshire, where natural terrain meets traditional parkland design. Expect a course that tests your decision-making with varied elevations and precise shot execution, all wrapped in a relaxed atmosphere that encourages repeated visits throughout the seasons.

Course Highlights

Distinctive elevation shifts create strategic uphill and blind shots uncommon in many parkland courses. A blend of challenging bunkers and water hazards calls for careful shot placement. The course benefits from attentive maintenance, while its layout offers variety without overwhelming less experienced players.

Unsurprisingly the course was very wet this past weekend, but still an excellent playthrough. The staff were friendly and efficient, and everything from online booking to teeing off was smooth. It's a bit of a different course in that it's not really houses built around a golf course, but more a golf course that runs through a neighborhood, but it's fun with a mix of hazards to watch out for. On a minor note, it's not necessary for sure, but I was a bit sad that the scorecard didn't have a map of the holes on it as many courses do. The folks I was paired with had their phones and a map on that which worked out fine, and many holes you can see where you're going anyway, but to me it's one of those small nice to have things.

Wanted to find a nice course to play on during vacation. Eastman Golf links didn't disappoint at all. The course is lovely, well maintained and is good for all levels.

The course is nice, but the pricing information on the website is misleading. My college student son and his friends drove an hour to play at Eastman instead of the local course, because their website advertises "Juniors (ages 16 - 17) and Students" rate of $22. When they arrived, the person checking them in said that the "Students" reference is only for high school students. When they showed her the website wording quoted above, she said, "yeah a lot of college students have come in expecting that discount, but it's only for high school students." They ended up paying 3x for 9 holes then they were expecting to pay for 18 and spent much more money than they were expecting because they didn't have time to drive elsewhere. I see no issue with Eastman charging whatever they think is appropriate for their course. However, the pricing should be clear on the website and it's curious that they fail to revise the language despite their own representative acknowledging that it's a repeated misperception.

By far the least favorite course design I've ever played. Massive elevation changes lead to blind tee shots and severely uphill approaches on the majority of the Par 4's and 5's, and I despise both. Unless you play here often and know the course well, you'll be looking for your ball a lot and end up with poor shots that look good off the tee & fairway. For this reason alone I won't play here again. I gave it four stars though because basically everything they can control in the present time is good, so it's not fair to give a bad rating solely off what a course designer did 50 years ago. The staff is nice as well as the clubhouse. The carts are very new, which is nice as you'll need one due to the aforementioned elevation. Conditions are largely good, some landing areas in fairways are very soft from moisture but besides that the greenskeepers do a good job. Practice green is largely useless as it's a turtleback, but apparently it's being moved in the near future. $100 on weekends with a cart isn't awful in 2024. Overall if you like the design features of this course mentioned above that I don't like, I'd give it a shot.

Great staff - when I told him it was my first time at the course, he handed me the course guide booklet and gave me some tips. The course was in great shape...fair and challenging holes. Worth the drive from Manchester to play. I played mid-summer and my guess is that with the views and elevation changes, playing in the fall will be spectacular.
