Crotched Mountain Golf Club
Crotched Mountain Golf Club delivers a dynamic 18-hole mountain layout featuring significant elevation changes and strategic challenges. Set amid rugged terrain, this public course is ideal for golfers looking to test their skills against one of New Hampshire’s most distinctive landscapes.
Course Overview
Set against the rugged backdrop of central New Hampshire’s rolling terrain, Crotched Mountain Golf Club offers an 18-hole public course that blends mountain golf’s distinctive challenges with engaging playability. Located approximately 10 minutes from Francestown, this course demands strategic thinking amid its significant elevation changes and varied topography. The layout is a true mountain course, where uneven lies and blind shots frequently come into play, placing a premium on accurate shotmaking over pure distance.
Though relatively short in total yardage, the course tests every aspect of your game. Holes twist and climb, with several doglegs that require precise club selection and thoughtful navigation around waste areas guarding the greens. Golfers will find themselves using an array of clubs, challenging their creativity while negotiating the natural contours of the land. The slopes and elevation shifts encourage players to factor trajectory and rollout, rewarding those who remain patient and deliberate.
Condition-wise, Crotched Mountain maintains fairways and greens in generally good shape for a public mountain course. The greens roll true, demanding solid putting skills, though the uneven lie and rough terrain will challenge your balance and stability. The course is walkable for those in good physical condition, yet those unaccustomed to elevation gain should prepare accordingly. Carts are available, but the staff favors walking to fully appreciate the scenic views and course nuances.
Visitors often praise the panoramic vistas that stretch from on high, where forests blanket the hills and the distant horizon opens up with uninterrupted rural beauty. The clubhouse provides a welcoming atmosphere, complemented by friendly staff who contribute to a warm, community feel. Whether tackling the tight approach shots or savoring the mountain air, players will find an experience that is as rewarding as it is demanding.
Crotched Mountain Golf Club is ideally suited for golfers seeking variety beyond flat terrain, with an emphasis on strategy and shot shaping. Its mountain setting both rewards and challenges, creating a memorable round for those ready to meet its unique demands.

This was our third year doing an annual tournament at this golf course. It was so much fun. They have a great staff, beautiful views and the day we played the course look great from tee to green. The cart path could use some work. The elevation change on a few holes had great views that were a fun challenge. This course is short but the challenges it had made up for it. You will need to plan some of your shots with the holes that are dogleg or have waste area before the greens. You will get the opportunity to use many different clubs. The more we play this course the more we enjoy it. It helps to have played this course before to know it to make it more enjoyable because there are many holes that you will need to plan your shot. I always look forward to coming here every year for our annual tournament and I am looking forward to next year. This course is well worth playing.

You’re not likely to find a nicer course in better shape for less money anywhere. We’ve been twice now and the condition for a public course is fantastic. Great views, everyone there is nice and if it wasn’t a bit out of the way it would be at least twice as much!

A quirky, mountain layout with several blind shots. Not many level lies on this one. Walkable only if you are very athletic. Conditions are decent, but some areas need a lot of attention.

Five stars for fairways with a view! This mountain golf course is pure magic—breathtaking scenery, smooth greens, and just the right challenge. Played my heart out and loved every swing!

Nice course carved out around a ski resort. Travelled up from central MA this weekend. Challenging layout that will test shot shaping and course strategy! Course was in great shape however it seemed no one ever repairs ball marks on the greens. Great views especially on the 18th tee box!
