Canterbury Woods Country Club
Canterbury Woods Country Club in New Hampshire is a private, 18-hole parkland course offering a measured challenge framed by mature woods and thoughtfully placed bunkers. Its approachable layout rewards accuracy and course management, complemented by a welcoming clubhouse with elevated views.
Course Overview
Canterbury Woods Country Club offers an 18-hole golf experience that blends classic parkland characteristics with a predominantly wooded setting. Located in Canterbury, New Hampshire, this private course is designed for players who appreciate a straightforward yet thoughtful challenge amid a natural landscape defined by mature trees and quietly rolling terrain. The layout encourages accuracy off the tee, with several holes framed by narrow fairways and well-placed bunkers that demand smart club selection and precise shot-making.
The course’s flow invites golfers to engage with a pace that rewards concentration and control over sheer power. Elevation changes are subtle but effective, contributing to the course’s character without introducing undue difficulty. Greens are generally well-maintained, offering a receptive but nuanced target that tests putting skill with gentle slopes and varying speeds. Water hazards are minimal, allowing the woods and strategically positioned bunkers to shape the round’s rhythm instead.
Canterbury Woods appeals to a broad range of players. While keen golfers can find rewarding strategic moments that challenge low handicaps, the layout remains approachable for mid- to higher-handicap players through generous tee placement options and open sight lines on many holes. The course does not rely on gimmicks or forced carries, but rather on classic golf fundamentals: shot placement, trajectory control, and thoughtful course management.
Amenities at Canterbury Woods extend beyond the fairways, with a clubhouse that provides a welcoming space for members to unwind after their rounds. The two-story deck offers expansive views of the course, making it a popular spot to enjoy food and drink while reflecting on the day’s play.
Players planning a visit should be prepared for a course that rewards patience and precise execution, especially given the wooded corridors and bunker complexes guarding the greens. Walking the course is feasible, but due to modest hills and wooded footing, appropriate footwear is advisable. While the peaceful New Hampshire setting maintains a relaxed atmosphere, players should be aware that league play frequently limits tee time availability, especially during prime morning hours.
From its clean design to its approachable yet engaging layout, Canterbury Woods Country Club embodies a classic golfing experience grounded in tradition and natural beauty.
Course Highlights

Firstly, we love playing this course. Amazing layout, long open holes, short fun par 3, great conditions, nice views, it’s a very consistent track. Second story deck and kitchen/bar are great after round destination with great food/drink. However we haven’t been able to get onto the course in two years. I was gifted two free 18 rounds with a cart for 2024 season and despite trying six times last year to use them we couldn’t book a tee time. Every time there was “ all day league tournament” or no tee times before 11:30 am. We were calling trying to book days in advance not for the following day. My free round coupons expired 10/31, knowing I wouldnt be able to play the weeks leading up I gave them to two other individuals, both of whom also couldn’t get on the course as well, and sadly they expired despite trying on over 10 occasions to use them. Now in the 2025 season, it’s been the same thing. Leagues all day, no morning tee time, etc. Been playing here for at least 15 years and would like to continue to.

A few things I have to say. I was trying to play 18 hole and a sudden storm started out of no where. We played one full hole, the FIRST hole out of 18. $90 each, ONE hole. No refund but a card to come back, I am not from NH so even though it was a generous offer, it was not ideal at all. Serious bummer. Next, the golf cart we did have for that first hole had no gas, seriously running on fumes. I guess thank god we didn’t have it through the whole course. It could not get up the hill at all. The highlight is that it was a beautiful 1st hole, unfortunately could not experience the rest of the 17 due to weather.

Good looking course but over priced. $100 for 18 is robbery and then add in $30 for a cart… come on. Thats not inflation, high prices like that is just poor treatment of people. Today it was $360 for 3 guys. We bought drinks and food which brought our day to over $500 for 3. I’m sorry but green fees on a weekend need to be $80 or I won’t go back. Not worth it.

For $115 I would expect to see a lot less GUR on the course. Lost 2 balls in the "fairway". Lots of mud, too. Greens were good, tee boxes, also. Only saw the beverage cart once and that was on hole 15

Nice course. Gotta be able to hit straight tho... Good bunker positions and nice, plush greens. Not many water obstacles. Wooded, very picturesque. Cool, high tees for very low greens. Challenging.

Tough course but worth the money. Difficult to get in on a weekend due to members booking several tee times and cancelling last minute.
