Canterbury Woods Country Club
Canterbury Woods Country Club offers an 18-hole private parkland course characterized by mature woodland, strategic bunkering, and subtle elevation changes. Its balanced design welcomes players of varied skill levels, making it a staple for golfers seeking both challenge and playability in central New Hampshire.
Course Overview
Canterbury Woods Country Club offers a classic New England golf experience set amidst gently rolling terrain and well-established woodlands in Canterbury, New Hampshire. This 18-hole, par-72 course is designed for members seeking a blend of tradition and challenge within a private setting. Its parkland style favors golfers who appreciate strategic shot-making rather than overwhelming length, with long, open fairways intersected by mature trees that demand accuracy from tee to green.
The course’s layout unfolds across a landscape where elevation subtly influences each hole, inviting players to engage thoughtfully with every approach. Greens are elevated and often guarded by well-positioned bunkers, requiring precise iron play and deft touch on putts. While water hazards are few, the course compensates with natural terrain undulations that preserve interest and test various aspects of a golfer’s game.
Canterbury Woods is approachable but demands respect from all skill levels. The wide fairways welcome mid- to high-handicap players, yet the placement of bunkers and complex greens provides enough difficulty to engross low handicaps looking to sharpen their precision under pressure. This balance makes it a versatile venue for regular play and competitive events within its members-only framework.
The clubhouse serves as a social hub, offering a comfortable second-story deck with views overlooking the course. It provides a relaxed space for post-round meals and refreshments, fostering a strong community atmosphere. Golf carts are available, though walking enthusiasts will find soft fairways and modest hills manageable with proper footwear.
Seasonal use can be affected by league events, which occupy considerable tee times during peak months, so planning ahead is essential for those hoping to enjoy early or flexible tee times. Overall, Canterbury Woods presents a steady, engaging test of golf that fits well with the scenic, wooded character of central New Hampshire’s landscape, making it a steadfast choice for those tied to this area’s private club scene.
Course Highlights
The course’s signature traits include elevated greens framed by strategically placed bunkers and a layout that uses gentle hills to shape shot selection. Mature trees line fairways creating both visual appeal and tactical challenges. A welcoming clubhouse deck provides a social setting attentive to player comfort.

Firstly, we love playing this course. Amazing layout, long open holes, short fun par 3, great conditions, nice views, it’s a very consistent track. Second story deck and kitchen/bar are great after round destination with great food/drink. However we haven’t been able to get onto the course in two years. I was gifted two free 18 rounds with a cart for 2024 season and despite trying six times last year to use them we couldn’t book a tee time. Every time there was “ all day league tournament” or no tee times before 11:30 am. We were calling trying to book days in advance not for the following day. My free round coupons expired 10/31, knowing I wouldnt be able to play the weeks leading up I gave them to two other individuals, both of whom also couldn’t get on the course as well, and sadly they expired despite trying on over 10 occasions to use them. Now in the 2025 season, it’s been the same thing. Leagues all day, no morning tee time, etc. Been playing here for at least 15 years and would like to continue to.

A few things I have to say. I was trying to play 18 hole and a sudden storm started out of no where. We played one full hole, the FIRST hole out of 18. $90 each, ONE hole. No refund but a card to come back, I am not from NH so even though it was a generous offer, it was not ideal at all. Serious bummer. Next, the golf cart we did have for that first hole had no gas, seriously running on fumes. I guess thank god we didn’t have it through the whole course. It could not get up the hill at all. The highlight is that it was a beautiful 1st hole, unfortunately could not experience the rest of the 17 due to weather.

Good looking course but over priced. $100 for 18 is robbery and then add in $30 for a cart… come on. Thats not inflation, high prices like that is just poor treatment of people. Today it was $360 for 3 guys. We bought drinks and food which brought our day to over $500 for 3. I’m sorry but green fees on a weekend need to be $80 or I won’t go back. Not worth it.

For $115 I would expect to see a lot less GUR on the course. Lost 2 balls in the "fairway". Lots of mud, too. Greens were good, tee boxes, also. Only saw the beverage cart once and that was on hole 15

Nice course. Gotta be able to hit straight tho... Good bunker positions and nice, plush greens. Not many water obstacles. Wooded, very picturesque. Cool, high tees for very low greens. Challenging.

Tough course but worth the money. Difficult to get in on a weekend due to members booking several tee times and cancelling last minute.
