Osage National Golf Course

Lake Ozark, Missouri, USACentral Missouri

Osage National Golf Course in Lake Ozark offers three diverse nine-hole courses – Mountain, Links, and Timber – delivering varied terrain, thoughtful design, and a friendly atmosphere for golfers of all levels. This 27-hole layout combines scenic elevation, open fairways, and tree-lined challenges to create a rewarding experience in the heart of the Ozarks.

Course Overview

Osage National Golf Course presents an engaging and versatile golfing experience at the heart of Lake Ozark, Missouri. Comprised of three distinct nine-hole layouts – Mountain, Links, and Timber – the resort-style facility offers a dynamic blend of terrain and design that appeals to a broad spectrum of golfers. Each course delivers unique challenges and scenic variety, from the undulating elevations of the Mountain course to the open, wind-swept fairways of the Links, and the wooded seclusion provided by Timber. Together, they create a composite 27-hole complex that can be played in multiple configurations, ensuring freshness and replayability.

The Mountain course showcases dramatic elevation changes that influence club selection and shot shaping, inviting golfers to adapt continually to the landscape. Its fairways wind through rolling hills, with deep bunkers placed to penalize wayward drives and strategic greens that encourage thoughtful approaches. Contrasting this, the Links course offers broad, sweeping vistas and airy exposure to prevailing winds, testing players’ grip and tempo with a more open, straightforward layout and subtle green contours. The Timber course completes the trio with tree-lined fairways and tighter corridors, where accuracy off the tee and precision iron play become paramount.

Maintenance throughout Osage National is consistently strong, ensuring smooth putting surfaces and well-manicured turf that support good pace of play. The staff is widely praised for professionalism and hospitality, complementing the relaxed yet competitive atmosphere. Practice facilities include a driving range and putting green available without charge for players, making preparations before teeing off convenient and efficient.

Visitors should plan for cart use, as the courses cover terrain that is demanding on foot, though walking is possible for those prepared with appropriate footwear. The course is open to the public and welcomes golfers of all skill levels seeking to explore varied playing conditions in a picturesque Ozarks setting. Amenities such as a pro shop, rental clubs, and casual dining options complete the offering, making Osage National a worthy destination for both serious rounds and social golf outings.

Course Highlights

The trio of nine-hole courses at Osage National stand out for their contrasting landscape challenges – from the steeply contoured Mountain course to the exposed, wind-influenced Links and the densely wooded Timber course. The layout encourages strategic play and adaptability, with well-maintained fairways and greens providing consistent playing conditions. Combined with complimentary practice amenities and a welcoming staff, Osage National offers a comprehensive golf experience in a scenic Midwest setting.

One of the best courses in the nation, and hands down the best course in the Ozarks. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. The course is fun but challenging at the same time.

What was supposed to be a great round of golf on our 3rd day of playing different courses in the Ozarks turned out to be a terrible experience thanks to Dave (pictured) and Tom. Between these 2 course Nazis we were rushed the whole time by the GPS on the carts, the ranger, and by Tom and Dave the whole time we golfed. We went aloud to have a 5-some so they split us up and paired 2 of our guys with 2 guys that work at the course. We got our carts locked up by their GPS system multiple times and once one of our carts was locked solid for over 10 minutes. Thank goodness some local members came along and called the office and got us unlocked so we could continue playing. Mind you, this got locked up on a cart path. We offered to let the locals play through and they wouldn't. They said they weren't in a hurry and to take our time as it was our first time here. The cart GPS kept telling us to pick up our pace. One of our guys was so mad about being paired up with the course workers her wanted to leave at the end of 9 holes so the other guy wanted to join us at the turn to make us a 4-some. So at the turn we came to the clubhouse and talked to the cart guys and told them what was going on and asked if it would be a problem if we waited. They said no problem, go inside and grab a beverage and a bite to eat and they would get us going after they joined us and make the back 9 a better experience. We went in and grabbed a bite, which was a very overpriced dried out burger and a Powerade (no alcohol was consumed by our group the whole day BTW). As I was eating my dried out burger Nazi Dave came over and told us we needed to get back out there. I explained we were waiting to pick up our 4th guy and he still barked that we needed to get moving. Meanwhile the locals that were behind us came into the clubhouse and were offered a menu by the staff to order from. We go outside and as our guys come up the hill. Before we could even see what was going on Tom comes out on the deck and starts telling us to either get back out there or leave. He had 3 holes with no one on them so if we were going we needed to go now. I tried to explain what was going on and he said he didn't care he had 3 holes that needed to be filled. We proceeded as a 3-some to the next hole and our other 2 decided to continue to play with the course workers as well. We then started playing a best ball format to help speed up our play. We were playing at a fast clip and yet the cart GPS kept telling us we were behind and needed to pick up the pace. On one of the back holes a ranger came by and said "hey, Dave called him and said you are doing a good job with your pace" and yet our cart keeps telling us we were 11 minutes behind pace. Now, here's some fun info, while we are playing we saw 2 5-somes and even a 6-some playing the course! There was also no one behind us for several holes and no one ahead of us ether. We kept up our best ball pace and on the 8th hole we finally came up on a 4-some. We had to wait on them to finish their hole only to find out it was our other 2 guys and the course workers that somehow got ahead of us and we caught them. We finished our round and went back to the clubhouse to find our guys had 2 more holes to play still. I went into the clubhouse to the pro shop and waited until no one else was in there to talk to Dave about our experience. I informed him that they have a great course, the cart guys, ranger and bar staff were friendly but because of him and Tom we would never be back to play this course! The two of them made this a miserable experience! There were so many ways this could have been handled and still make it a fun day but they choose to be dicks the whole time. I guess they are just sour on life because they didn't have what it takes to be a professional golfer on tour and they have to take it out on the rest of us and show everyone that they are the big shots around there. Well, Tom and Dave, I will never be back and I'll make it my mission to let everyone I come in contact with know about you and how you treat people.

Beautiful course. Plays long. Very expensive. Try some other local courses if you are a 10+ handicap. I love Ledgestone for the price.

Played a 4 ball for my bachelor party. In the pouring rain for the back 9. Wide open course and cart path only. It was a blast. Most fun I have had on a course in a long time. Guy at the pro shop was really kind. Loved the challenging layout and design. Rental clubs are good quality. We bought some cool Osage National golf polos, thanks for the memories. My first ever round of golf in Missouri!

Great service and staff. Nice driving range and putting green available for free if you play there. They have three nine hole courses there and we played the mountain course and links course which were both great. Very well maintained. Probably the one of the nicest golf courses at the Lake of the Ozarks.
