Course Overview

Situated in the gently rolling terrain of Holly Springs, Mississippi, Kirkwood National Golf Club offers an 18-hole golf experience that balances challenge with approachability. This public course integrates natural Southern landscapes with thoughtful design, creating a variety of holes that test accuracy and strategic play without overwhelming the casual golfer. The layout is classic parkland style, with well-defined fairways framed by mature trees and occasional water hazards that demand respect but remain fair.

Kirkwood National’s course terrain plays with subtle elevation shifts, providing visual interest and a gentle flow from hole to hole. The greens are notably receptive, allowing precise shot placement and rewarding a thoughtful short game. While the course accommodates players of different abilities, it particularly appeals to mid- and high-handicap golfers seeking a rewarding round in a relaxed environment. Still, low handicaps will appreciate the strategic options and risk-reward shots presented throughout.

The clubhouse serves as a welcoming hub with a friendly staff ready to assist players. Off the course, Kirkwood National distinguishes itself with comfortable rental cottages onsite, making it an appealing destination for golf getaways or weekend retreats. These cottages provide guests with convenient access to the course and a comfortable place to unwind after play.

Golf carts are available, but walking is encouraged for those seeking a traditional experience and to fully engage with the surrounding scenery. Paths and course conditions require sturdy footwear, especially during wetter seasons when terrain can be softer.

While Kirkwood National may not boast high-profile architectural legends or signature championship tournaments, it offers a solid golf outing with attentive maintenance and a welcoming atmosphere. Its blend of natural Southern charm, accessible playability, and on-site lodging creates a setting that invites golfers to return time and again for laid-back enjoyment and steady improvement.

Plan your visit outside peak summer heat to fully enjoy the course’s nuances and the hospitable pace of play. Whether you come for a casual round or a weekend getaway, Kirkwood National stands as a worthy stop for golfers exploring Mississippi’s central golf circuit.

Outstanding Experience at Kirkwood National! I recently had the pleasure of staying at Kirkwood National, and I can't say enough about how fantastic the experience was from start to finish. Jerry, Jennifer, and Cara were absolutely amazing to work with—attentive, professional, and accommodating throughout the entire process. Their customer service truly made the trip memorable. The cottages were top-notch—super comfortable, exceptionally clean, and had all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. It felt like a home away from home. As for the golf course, it was in exceptional shape! The fairways and greens were perfectly maintained, offering a great mix of challenge and enjoyment for golfers of all levels. You could tell the course is cared for with precision and pride. If you're planning a golf getaway or a round of golf, I highly recommend Kirkwood National. The team goes above and beyond to ensure everything runs smoothly. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

This golf course was in amazing shape, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We were kind of hesitant on trying this course out after reading some of the negative reviews that were posted but after realizing that those post were all posted at the same time we decided to give it a try. So glad we did and I absolutely was not disappointed. Also while talking with the staff it became very evident that no one had been arrested at their facility. Don't miss the opportunity to play and enjoy this course if you get the chance.

Terrible experience all around. The golf course was in awful shape and the people that work there were extremely rude and obnoxious to my friends and family. The course isn’t a national golf course, they just put that in their name so they can charge an exorbitant amount of money for a barely playable course. Not worth the gas money or the time of day.

Worst golf course I’ve ever played. Cartpaths were torn up to where you can barely drive on them. The people in the clubhouse were EXTREMELY rude to my family, especially the owner. He called the police to kick off two of the groups in front of us for doing nothing and refused to give them a refund.

This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. The owner and the rest of the staff was horrible and very rude. You pay $70 dollars and have to gamble the staff woke up on the right side of the bed or else you might get kicked off for hitting a ball into the water. They will waste tax payers dollars to get the cops out there and handle it too when they don’t even agree with the staff. The cart paths are horrible too. I would rather go golfing at the Gaza Strip than this horrible golf course. Really good for a “national” golf club.
