Ocala, Florida, USACentral Florida

Stone Creek Golf Club presents an inviting 18-hole parkland layout in Ocala, Florida, featuring rolling fairways and water challenges that reward precise shot-making. With friendly amenities and a comfortable clubhouse setting, it suits a wide range of players seeking an unpretentious but engaging golfing experience.

Course Overview

Stone Creek Golf Club offers golfers an 18-hole challenge set amid the gentle contours and natural vegetation of central Florida's Ocala region. Designed as a public facility, it blends a traditional layout with the subtle charms of a parkland-style course, marked by rolling fairways, mature trees, and strategically placed water hazards that invite thoughtful shot-making. The course balances accessibility with a test of precision, making it appealing to a broad range of players from enthusiastic novices to more seasoned competitors.

Arriving at Stone Creek, players encounter well-maintained tee boxes and fairways framed by native flora, creating a fresh yet familiar golfing atmosphere. The greens are known to be receptive and generally fast, although recent aeration has altered the putting surfaces temporarily. Bunkers and water features come into play most notably on the back nine, encouraging risk-reward decisions and demanding careful club selection.

The course’s setting is subtle yet captivating, shaped more by function than dramatic elevation changes. It benefits from typical Florida vegetation, providing a distinct experience especially during the early morning or late afternoon rounds when light and shadows animate the landscape. Playability is upgraded by the course’s relatively generous fairways but still commands accuracy around the greens, making it a satisfying option for players working on all facets of their game.

Beyond golf, Stone Creek Golf Club features a clubhouse with dining amenities that overlook parts of the course, including an inviting grill space with indoor and patio seating. This combination allows for a comfortable stay and socializing after play, rounding out the experience with welcoming hospitality. The pro shop is stocked with essentials and staffed by knowledgeable professionals who assist players in preparing for their rounds.

Walking the course is encouraged; paths are well-maintained and the terrain gentle, but good walking shoes are recommended due to Florida’s summer conditions. Cart availability caters to those preferring a more leisurely pace. While Stone Creek is a public course, it retains a clubhouse atmosphere geared toward community engagement and daily golf enjoyment.

Stone Creek delivers a genuine, approachable golf experience within the landscape of Ocala, blending natural Florida beauty with solid course design to reward thoughtful play and offer a relaxing outing for golfers of varied skill.

Course Highlights

Stone Creek stands out for its blend of smooth, undulating fairways and water hazards that come into play on multiple holes, creating strategic challenges while maintaining an approachable layout. The clubhouse’s grill and patio spaces offer a relaxed environment with course views, complementing the golf with social and dining options. Though no major architectural signature holes are documented, the course’s flow across rolling terrain aligns neatly with Florida’s natural vegetation and subtle elevation shifts, making for a pleasant yet engaging round.

I’d start by saying Stone Creek is a beautiful course. That said, there were a few things during my first round that didn’t sit well. First, after booking a week in advance, there was no mention of the greens being aerated and sanded—something we only found out after arriving and paying. I understand maintenance is necessary for any course, but I’ve never played one that failed to post this on their website, at the clubhouse, or even offer a small discount—especially after driving over an hour to try it out. Second, we arrived 30 minutes early hoping to hit a few practice drives on the range, only to be told, “You probably don’t have enough time.” After some discussion, we were given a small basket of balls. Great—until the next hiccup. We had our spouses with us, and once our bags were loaded onto the cart, we were brought back to the clubhouse and told we needed to pay rider fees. That’s normally not a big deal, as most courses have this listed somewhere—on the website, signs, or at check-in. This one didn’t. We paid without hesitation, but then the employee said we no longer had time to use the range and took the basket of balls back—despite it being only three minutes since we received them. We were then rushed to the first tee box, where we teed off 20 minutes before our scheduled time with a solo player who was a club member. That’s when it clicked: we weren’t being rushed because of time—we were being pushed to accommodate the member. Ironically, he had no one in front of him and could’ve easily teed off alone, while we stuck to our original time. Overall, the course was gorgeous, but the lack of transparency and the rushed, disorganized experience left a bad taste after what should’ve been a great first visit.

Beautiful facility. While we did not eat here, we visited to see if this would be a good location for a wedding. While many weddings are performed here, we are looking for a special place on property for my wife's mom. What a sweet story to tell, my Mother-in-law was looking at houses in Stone Creek in October of 2018. We met the realtor at this facility and her mom met someone who just got married at this location. The bride had nothing but good remarks. The house never panned out. 2 months later in December my mother-in-law met up with an old friend and found out that he was widowed too. They started talking and 6 months later, they bought a house in Stone Creek with plans to wed at the Reunion facility in a few weeks. Just goes to show you, you never know what is right around the corner. Thank you Stone Creek for having such a beautiful place. More pictures will come later, these were taken at dusk. Since visiting and taking these pictures, my Mother-in-law and her fiance have eaten here and say the food is great. They are hiring them to cater their wedding. These pictures were taken at the entrance.

Great course. We had a shotgun start with 28 groups but the pace of play was around 4 hours. Never saw a group ahead of or behind us the entire round! Challenging course with a fun layout. Well ran and friendly management. Will definitely play again

Enjoyed golf course. In good condition. Greens have been recently punched and not completely healed. Starter told us members think greens are very fast, which they were not. So I don't know what's normal!

I have been to the Stone Creek Golf Club Grill, a few times now. Our experience was basically the same each time we visited. Being located in the Stone Creek community, It's an absolutely beautiful setting. Although the golf club and grill are located just outside the guard house and gate. So folks can visited without having to gain access past the gate first. There seems to be adequate parking and more, when we have visited. Of course it could be more crowded on prime golf times. Although I do not know for sure. The golf club building and facilities are very nice. The golf pro shop is also located in this building with the grill and other rooms. The grill is located directly ahead as you enter the buildings main entrance. The grill is a fairly large room or two that has a very open feeling. There are windows all along the one side of the room that overlook the grill's patio section and the golf course itself. As I mentioned, there is a mostly covered, outdoor patio for folks preferring to dine outside. And of course there is the indoor section with the air conditioning for folks who prefer the more climate controlled environment. There is also a nice fireplace and a fair sized bar section. We have always visited more towards the lunch hour. So we have never had to wait to be seated at a table. It may be different at more crowded times like dinner or such. The menu is not large, but I find it to be adequate in size and choice. I have tried something different with each visit. And each time we have found our food to be very good. Actually, I should say that it was excellent. Our server has been excellent. By chance, we have had the same server each time we have visited over a few years. She has been there since they opened and is a pleasure to be served by. Unfortunately, I am terrible with names and forget them too often until I spend a good amount of time with folks. So my apologies to her. But she is wonderful. The prices are not the least expensive you ever see. But I find the prices to be mostly fair considering the environment, quality of the food and meal itself, and portions. I had a Yuengling draft with my lunch, which was reasonably priced as well. So depending on what you order, it can be quite reasonable. Yes you can spend more if you opt for the more expensive choices. But I don't see many restaurants the give you this nice of a dining experience, at possibly this reasonable of a price. Of course this is just my opinion. But I think that the Stone Creek Golf Club Grill, walks a fine line between a quiet comfortable country club meal, and reasonable priced meal. Again, depending on the your order. As such, I recommend them. We have been there multiple times now over a few years, and have enjoyed it every time. I can't ask for more than that.

Overall a great golf course, one of the best public courses in the Ocala area. Greens and fairways were very well maintained, beautiful layout and nice facilities. Would highly recommend it.
