Pebble Beach Golf Links

Pebble Beach, California, USACentral Coast California

Pebble Beach Golf Links is a renowned 18-hole public course along California’s Carmel Peninsula, offering breathtaking ocean views combined with a layout that challenges golfers of all skill levels. The coastal winds, cliffside fairways, and strategic greens create an experience both scenic and demanding.

Course Overview

Few golf courses capture the imagination quite like Pebble Beach Golf Links, located along California's rugged Carmel Peninsula. This iconic 18-hole public course runs along the coastline where the Pacific Ocean’s surf shapes wind and mood alike. Each hole offers a distinct vantage point on this dramatic shoreline, with green complexes perched on cliffs that jut toward the sea and fairways that wind through coastal dunes and cypress clusters. The salty ocean breezes test every shot and demand precise control, making the course a vivid experience for golfers of varied skill levels.

With a par of 72 stretching over 6,828 yards from the championship tees, Pebble Beach balances challenge with accessibility. While low handicappers will find the narrower fairways and strategic bunkering a stiff test, higher handicappers can choose from multiple tee boxes that open play and reward thoughtful shot placement. The greens here are firm and fast, sculpted to encourage creative approach shots and careful putting.

Beyond the course, the setting offers sweeping views over crashing waves and rocky outcrops, turning each hole into a visual journey just as much as a golfing challenge. The layout embraces the site's natural contours, with holes that wind around natural terrain rather than impose upon it. This integration makes walking the course an invigorating experience, where the ocean air and sounds create an immersive outdoor moment.

Amenities include a well-appointed clubhouse with refined dining options and a pro shop stocked with top-tier equipment. Experienced caddies are available to offer local knowledge and assist with shot selection, enriching the overall round. Pebble Beach’s reputation extends beyond playability into a genuine cultural landmark for golfers worldwide.

Planning a round here involves early booking given its popularity, and players should prepare for variable wind conditions that influence daily play. Suitable footwear is recommended for comfort over hilly terrain and course walks. Whether seeking a once-in-a-lifetime round or local players aiming to improve their game, Pebble Beach offers an unforgettable balance of nature’s beauty and golf’s enduring challenge.

Course Highlights

The course’s sweeping ocean views and cliffside holes are its most distinctive features. Signature holes include the par-3 7th, perched on a small peninsula over the Pacific, and the challenging par-5 8th that requires a thoughtful tee shot along the coastline. The firm, fast greens and coastal winds demand creativity and precision, rewarding strategic play. The course is culturally significant as one of golf’s most famous public destinations and has hosted multiple major championships.

This was a bucket list course I have been wanting to play for awhile. Finally got the chance to play and it didn't disappoint. The course was in great shape and the views are stunning. My highlight was a birdie on #8 and would highly recommend getting a caddie. Our caddie Steve was great and made the experience even more enjoyable with his knowledge and help with reading greens. Hopefully one day I'll be able to play here again.

Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe this golf course. Probably, perfection would do it more justice. The views are amazing. The weather was perfect with a touch of the ocean breeze. I love coming back to this place!

Pebble Beach was hands down the most amazing golf course I've ever played. Don't need a descriptive review. Just look at the photos. The course and property are amazing. We also had a great caddie. Highly recommend the services of a caddie during a round. Only issue I had was that during a post round shoe cleaning and wipe down of my brand new white FootJoys, the towel or cleaner that the gentleman used left a faint bluish/green hue. Not the end of the world, but not exactly ideal.

One of the most beautiful places in the world. The grounds are amazing, as are the staff, and restaurants. The golf is top tier. Pebble Beach may not be the toughest golf course, but it is one of the most beautiful. Couldn't be happier with the trip out there with 6 of my closest friends. Memory of a lifetime! It is not over-hyped.

This is one of the most beautiful places. One can't beat the views of the Carmel Peninsula. It's absolutely breathtaking! Even for non-golfers like myself we appreciate its beauty and history. It's a must-see to visit this beautiful beach and the Golf Course.

A very good location to visit. You can choose just to visit and enjoy nature, view, cold weather and restaurant as the accommodation is so expensive. A recommended place to drop even for short visit for those who drive through from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
