Prescott Golf Club
Prescott Golf Club features an 18-hole layout carved through rugged desert terrain, combining approachable fairways with strategic elevation changes and rocky landscape. This semi-private course invites golfers seeking a distinctive Arizona round marked by natural challenge and thoughtful shot-making.
Course Overview
Prescott Golf Club presents an 18-hole challenge set within the high desert landscape of central Arizona. This semi-private course threads through a natural environment marked by rugged terrain, juniper trees, and rocky outcrops that shape the character of each hole. Unlike a manicured parkland venue, Prescott offers a more raw and authentic desert golf experience that requires both strategy and adaptability from players. The layout runs just over 6,700 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, providing a satisfying test without being overwhelmingly punitive. Elevation changes and uneven lies demand care in club selection, while the wind often rising in the afternoon adds an extra strategic layer that affects shot trajectory and distance control.
The course balances accessibility with moments of true challenge. Fairways are generally generous, allowing mid- to high-handicap players to enjoy their round, while well-placed bunkers and undulating greens keep lower handicaps engaged. Water hazards appear sparingly but strategically, punctuating key holes and forcing thoughtful decisions. The desert setting means conditioning can vary seasonally, with the course typically firmer underfoot in the cooler months and slower during summer heat. Walking is practical but requires sturdy shoes and sun protection, as shade is limited amid the native foliage.
The clubhouse serves as the social hub with dining options that emphasize casual comfort and views over the course and surrounding hills. While some guests have noted limited menu diversity, the hospitality and relaxed atmosphere offer a welcome respite after play. Staff interaction ranges from helpful to variable depending on day and staffing levels, an aspect visitors might consider when planning a visit.
For golfers seeking a distinctive desert round just off Highway 89, Prescott Golf Club offers a blend of straightforward playability and natural ruggedness. It’s a place to engage with the elemental challenge of dryland golf, where thoughtful shot-making and respect for the environment shape the journey from tee to green.
Course Highlights
The course showcases natural desert topography with significant elevation shifts and native juniper groves shaping several holes. While not heavily adorned with water hazards, the presence of rocky waste areas and strategic bunkering demands precision. The routing offers a balance of open fairways and tighter, tree-lined holes, reflecting a classic desert golf style unique to northern Arizona.

Restaurant with a lack of dietary diversity. The salad was good but did not live up to what was promised for a vegan diet. The service was great and view spectacular. May return to enjoy a drink at the bar, but will not return to the restaurant. 🫤 There are definitely other restaurants in the area that truly offer dietary diversity 😀

I’ll definitely never golf here again, the staff is very rude and the place has a very click ish vibe, the marshal was rushing us the entire time and sitting there with a timer on his phone at the tee box even though we were on the group in front of us asses and waiting on them saying he’s going to have to hold us back and let the group behind us go and blah blah cause they are “buddies” of his. It’s like they expect you to play 18 holes in 3 hrs, the course honestly isn’t that nice and they get mad when you pull off the cart path and yell saying “this is why we don’t have grass” place is a joke, I play course in Wa state during the late fall and mid summer that would shit on this place for the price. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Prescott Golf Club is my go-to course whenever I'm in town. After a rough experience at Antelope Hills (shoutout to the guy behind the counter for almost making my buddy quit golf for pickleball), PGC completely turned things around. The staff here is always welcoming, the people you get paired with are absolute gems, and the whole vibe is just top-tier. Every time I've played here it's been a great experience, and I was glad to finally bring my friend along to show him what real golf hospitality feels like. Thanks to Prescott Golf Club for making every Prescott trip a good one.

The course is in rough shape. Scraggly area and a lot of bare ground. Had a guy come out and talk to us about carts being half on half off path cause it causes bald spot. There is places there is no cart path but dirt only. Then they sent 3/4 staff folks home at 2 ( opened at 11) cause it was slow and we were just starting the back 9. Won’t play again cause it was a very rough course but to be also chastised for something lame? No worries
