About this landmark
Monte Fitz Roy, a striking icon of Patagonia, rises majestically in the Southern Andes on the border between Argentina and Chile. Nestled amid the dramatic landscapes near Natales, Chile, this towering granite pinnacle is renowned for its breathtaking beauty and challenging climbs. With its rugged peaks slicing through the sky, Fitz Roy is known as 'Cerro Chaltén' to the indigenous Tehuelche people, meaning 'smoking mountain' due to the clouds that often shroud its summit.

The mountain's impressive height, nearly 3,405 meters (11,171 feet), presents a formidable challenge even for skilled mountaineers. The surrounding area, rich with vibrant flora and fauna, adds layers of intrigue to any exploration.
Declared a part of the Los Glaciares National Park, Monte Fitz Roy offers not just visual splendor, but stands as a testament to geological history and cultural heritage.
