Joseph Whidbey State Park

Joseph Whidbey State Park is located on Whidbey Island in Island County, Washington. This park covers over 112 acres, combining upland forested areas with more than 5,300 feet of saltwater shoreline along Admiralty Inlet and Puget Sound. The terrain includes a mix of mature Douglas fir, Western red cedar, and alder trees, providing habitat for a variety of wildlife including bald eagles, river otters, and seasonal marine mammals in the nearby waters. The park is historically significant as the area was first charted by Lieutenant Joseph Whidbey during George Vancouver’s 1792 expedition. Visitors can enjoy nearly 3 miles of hiking trails that traverse through forest and along the shoreline, offering views of the Cascades and Olympic Mountains on clear days.
