About Queen Elizabeth Park

Queen Elizabeth Park is a prominent municipal park in Vancouver, British Columbia, offering beautifully landscaped gardens, recreational facilities, and panoramic city views.

Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Located on Little Mountain in Vancouver, British Columbia, Queen Elizabeth Park is a 130-acre urban green space renowned for its horticultural displays, recreational amenities, and stunning vistas. The park’s elevated position at approximately 152 meters above sea level provides visitors with sweeping views of the city skyline, the North Shore Mountains, and, on clear days, the Strait of Georgia. Originally a basalt quarry providing materials for the city’s streets, the site was transformed into a civic park in the late 1930s and named to honor Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother during her visit to Canada in 1939. Today, it is managed by the Vancouver Park Board and attracts more than a million visitors annually. The park’s highlights include the Quarry Garden, a sunken garden with rock walls and seasonal floral displays; the Bloedel Conservatory, a tropical dome housing exotic birds and plants; and beautifully maintained formal gardens such as the rose and perennial gardens. Visitors have access to amenities including tennis courts, pitch-and-putt golf, and picnic areas. Its mix of natural beauty, horticultural interest, and recreational facilities make Queen Elizabeth Park a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The park’s accessibility and year-round appeal provide opportunities for leisurely walks, photography, birdwatching, and community events. Its urban location offers a green respite within Vancouver’s bustling metropolitan area.
