Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Mine Falls Park covers approximately 325 acres of green space along the Nashua and Merrimack Rivers in southern New Hampshire. The park features a network of over 5 miles of multi-use trails suitable for walking, running, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing in winter. Trails traverse a mixture of wetlands, hardwood forest, riverbanks, and remnants from the area's industrial past, including old canals and mills that once powered Nashua's thriving textile industry. Ecologically, the park provides habitat for migratory birds, amphibians, and various mammals, supporting a diverse ecosystem amid the urban environment. Visitors can enjoy scenic river views, peaceful wooded areas, and opportunities for wildlife viewing. The park is also historically significant as a preserved site representing 19th-century industrial development, with educational signage placed along several trails. Popular activities include hiking, biking, fishing from select riverside spots, and winter sports like snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Mine Falls Park attracts local residents and visitors seeking accessible natural space within a city setting, combining recreational amenities with outdoor education. The park's easy access and well-maintained trails make it a hub for family outings, fitness enthusiasts, and nature appreciation throughout the year.
