Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

San Luis State Wildlife Area, located in southern Colorado, is a haven for birdwatchers and nature lovers. Spread across a diverse landscape of wetlands, shrublands, and salt flats, the area offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience Colorado's high desert ecosystem. Historically, the area has served as a critical habitat for migratory birds, offering refuge to over 200 species, including sandhill cranes and great blue herons.
