Located in northeastern Missouri near the city of Hannibal, Mark Twain State Park encompasses forested bluffs, river overlooks, and a variety of natural habitats typical of the Mississippi River valley. The park is named after Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, the famed American author born in Hannibal. It offers a diverse landscape that includes hardwood forests, limestone bluffs, and river bottomlands.
