Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Bear River State Park, located in southwestern Wyoming near Evanston, provides a peaceful escape into nature. The park covers over 300 acres and features a diverse ecosystem that includes the Bear River, grasslands, and riparian areas. It is home to a herd of bison and elk, offering visitors an opportunity to witness these magnificent animals. Established in 1991, Bear River State Park offers over two miles of paved trails suitable for hiking and biking. The park is a haven for birdwatchers, with a multitude of species frequenting the area. Historically, the Bear River was an important route for Native American tribes and fur trappers. Visitors can enjoy picnicking, cross-country skiing in the winter months, and learning about the region through interpretive displays at the visitor center.
