Located in Story County, Iowa, Brushy Creek State Recreation Area encompasses heavily wooded terrain centered around Brushy Creek Lake, a 270-acre reservoir that serves as a hub for fishing, boating, and paddle sports. Established in 1969, the area covers over 1,200 acres of mixed oak-hickory forest, providing a natural habitat for a variety of wildlife including white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and numerous songbird species. Brushy Creek also supports ice fishing and cross-country skiing in winter, making it a year-round destination.
