Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Located southwest of Boulder, Colorado, Apex Recreation Area covers a rugged terrain of mixed conifer forests, alpine lakes, and rolling foothills. It is managed by Boulder County Parks and Open Space and offers rich ecological habitats including ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, and mixed woodlands that support wildlife such as mule deer, elk, black bears, and various bird species.
