Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Obey River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) covers a variety of terrain around the Obey River, located primarily in Pickett and Fentress Counties in Tennessee. This area encompasses forested hills, riverine wetlands, and open water habitats that support a wide range of wildlife species. The WMA is managed by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and serves as an important area for fish and wildlife conservation, as well as public outdoor recreation. The terrain includes steep bluffs and ridges overlooking the river, with numerous small branches and coves that provide habitat for game species like white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and black bear.
