The Mobile–Tensaw River Delta Wildlife Management Area, located in southwestern Alabama, spans over 250,000 acres of diverse ecosystems including bayous, swamps, marshes, creeks, and river systems. It is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the United States and provides a vital habitat for a wide range of plant and animal species. Historically, this area has been home to indigenous people and has seen exploration and settlement by European colonists. Today, it is a prime destination for outdoor recreation. Visitors can engage in bird watching, as the delta hosts numerous bird species, including waterfowl and the rare swallow-tailed kite. Fishing is another popular activity here, with the delta's waters teeming with bass, catfish, and crappie. Additionally, the area's waterways offer excellent opportunities for paddling sports.
