The Lake Champlain Basin spans approximately 8,234 square miles, covering parts of northern New York, western Vermont, and southern Quebec, Canada. Centered around Lake Champlain—one of the largest freshwater lakes in the United States—the basin includes numerous rivers, wetlands, forests, and agricultural lands that support a wide range of plant and animal species.
