Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Established in 1992, Kupiškis Regional Park encompasses approximately 19,000 hectares of predominantly forested land interspersed with lakes, rivers, and marshlands. Located near the town of Kupiškis, the park showcases the gentle rolling terrain typical of the Lithuanian countryside, with a mosaic of pine and mixed forests providing habitat for an array of wildlife, including species of European significance. The park includes notable water bodies such as Lake Kupiškis, which support fishing and paddle sports. Rich in cultural heritage, visitors can explore traditional villages, historical sites, and remnants of ancient settlements, underlining the deep human connection to the land. The park's trail network invites hikers and mountain bikers to experience peaceful nature walks, while seasonal birdwatching opportunities highlight the area's biological diversity. In winter, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing become popular activities. Kupiškis Regional Park is valued both for its ecological importance and as a recreational resource offering a tranquil escape into Lithuania’s natural and cultural landscapes.
