Ellsworth Woods Wildlife Area spans over 350 acres of mixed forest, wetlands, and small ponds located on the western edge of Ellsworth, Maine. This wildlife management area is managed by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to conserve native fauna and flora, especially for game species such as deer, turkey, and waterfowl. The landscape features a combination of hardwood and softwood stands, providing habitat for a wide variety of birds and mammals. Visitors can explore several walking trails that wind through mature woodlands and along stream corridors, making it a great spot for hiking, wildlife observation, and photography. The area is open year-round and is popular for birdwatching during migration seasons, as well as hunting during regulated seasons.
