Schooner American Eagle is a historic two-masted schooner based in Gloucester, Massachusetts, that offers curated coastal sailing experiences from Gloucester Harbor. The vessel operates a season of themed sails and multi-night voyages that combine traditional seamanship, regional storytelling, and authentic New England cuisine. Itineraries range from short festival cruises in Gloucester Harbor to multi-night island-hopping trips along Maine’s coast and Penobscot Bay.
Onboard accommodations are comfortable and communal, with shared bunks and common areas designed for social connection. Meals highlight local flavors, featuring gourmet Down East cuisine and traditional lobster bakes served on several voyages. Programming varies by trip and may include guided hikes ashore, beach time, evening stargazing, onboard workshops, yoga sessions led by expert instructors, and live music performances — notably a featured appearance by award-winning local musician Reese Fulmer on a seasonal encore sail.
Available trips described through The Adventure Collective include a two-hour Gloucester Schooner Festival Friday Sail, several three-night themed cruises (Coastal Classics, Perseid Meteor Showers yoga, and an encore sail), a four-night hiking and island exploration in Penobscot Bay, and a six-night WoodenBoat Sail-In voyage. The experienced crew provides navigation, safety briefings, and interpretive commentary about the schooner and regional maritime history.
