About

Practical First Aid & hands on training with the aim to give you the skills and confidence to enable you to take action in any emergency situation.

The course is run by outdoor professionals who have worked all over the UK, Scandinavia, Africa, South East Asia and Europe.

The scenarios, and information is tailored to suit the rugged and remote environment. Perfect for climbers, boaters, bikers, walkers & multi discipline instructors .

Syllabus

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Responsibilities and reporting
  • Heart attack
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Resuscitation
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Common outdoor illnesses inc Leptospirosis and Lyme disease
  • Poisons- including from plants and snakes
  • Bleeding control
  • Fractures
  • Head injuries
  • Drowning
  • Diabetes
  • Electrical injuries
  • Animal/ insect Bites
  • Spinal injuries
  • Choking
  • Heat and cold
  • Seizures
  • Burns and Shock
  • Asthma

The courses is run with the minium of powerpoint and in some cases no power point at all for the whole course. We feel that a pracical hands on approach to first aid is the best way to allow you to get confident in your abilityto actually do outdoor first aid when you need it.

The Activity first aid is suitable for a variety of NGB awarding body instrutor qualifications.
