Explore the Wild Beauty of Canaan Valley

Scenic Campground at Canaan Valley Resort

Canaan Valley Resort Campground in Davis, West Virginia offers visitors a refreshing outdoor getaway within the Appalachian Mountains region. This campground stands out because of its unique setting amid one of the largest freshwater wetlands in the central and southern Appalachian area. The valley’s history as a glacial formation creates distinct high-elevation terrain with cooler temperatures, making it a popular summer retreat.

Key features include expansive wetlands, rich conifer forests, and streams that support rare plant and animal species not often seen elsewhere in the region. The surrounding landscape forms a perfect balance of marshy lowlands and forested hillsides, attracting birdwatchers and nature lovers eager to spot wildlife in their natural habitat. Close by is the stunning Blackwater Falls State Park, where the impressive 57-foot waterfall adds dramatic scenic beauty to the visit.

The campground itself appeals to all types of visitors—from tent campers to RV travelers—with recent upgrades such as a modern bathhouse and new RV sites offering 30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer hookups. Shaded sites with mature oaks contrast with sections providing sunny mountain views. Trails begin directly at the campsite, inviting leisurely walks or hikes that reach the resort lodge about 1.5 miles away, where dining and additional activities await.

Long-time campers praise the well-maintained grounds and friendly staff, and many return year after year to enjoy the peaceful environment.
