Winter Sports Wonder: Pico Mountain Ski Resort, Mendon, Vermont
Pico Mountain Ski Resort sits in the heart of Mendon, Vermont, offering a genuine and memorable winter sports experience in the scenic Green Mountains. Known for its impressive 1,900-foot vertical drop, one of the highest in the state, Pico presents thrilling ski runs framed by stunning mountain views. This blend of natural beauty and varied terrain makes it a standout among Vermont’s ski destinations.
The resort features over 50 ski trails catering to all levels, from gentle beginner slopes like Bonanza 1 and 2 to challenging glades and steep pitches accessed via the Summit Express chair. The diverse terrain allows skiers and snowboarders to find their perfect run, whether seeking wide-open groomers or tree skiing in well-maintained glades. Pico’s snowmaking ensures excellent conditions through the season, and its cozy lodges provide a welcoming atmosphere for visitors looking to relax after a day on the slopes.
Pico’s history dates back to 1937, placing it among the earliest commercial ski areas in Vermont. Over the decades, it has maintained a family-friendly spirit, drawing generations of winter sports enthusiasts. The mountain’s smaller size compared to nearby giants creates a less crowded and more approachable environment without compromising the quality of the skiing.
Beyond skiing, Pico Mountain welcomes snowshoers and winter hikers who appreciate the quiet forest trails dusted with fresh snow. The combination of rugged outdoor adventure and warm community spirit makes this resort a must-visit for anyone heading to Vermont’s Green Mountain region. Whether novice or expert, visitors consistently find Pico’s charm and variety hard to match.
