Bald River Falls

Waterfall Wonder: Bald River Falls, Tennessee

Bald River Falls, located near the Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee’s scenic foothills, stands out as one of the region’s most captivating waterfalls. Towering at approximately 90 feet, the cascade flows over rugged, weathered rock, creating a powerful display of rushing water that commands attention. This waterfall is especially notable for its volume and accessibility, providing visitors an impressive natural spectacle just a short walk or easy roadside stop away.

The falls are surrounded by rich Southern Appalachian forest, featuring dense hardwoods and vibrant understory plants such as mountain laurel and rhododendron. The area’s unique geology, shaped by ancient rock formations and steady erosion, contributes to the waterfall’s striking appearance and the smooth riverbed below. During winter months, Bald River Falls transforms as thick ice formations coat the rocks, creating a breathtaking scene rarely matched in the region.

The nearby Cherokee National Forest offers further opportunities to enjoy streams, cascades, and diverse wildlife from the comfort of well-maintained trails.
