Mountain Longleaf National Wildlife Refuge covers over 9,000 acres and showcases a diverse ecosystem primarily composed of longleaf pine forests, a habitat that has drastically diminished over the centuries. Established in 2003 on a portion of the former Fort McClellan Army Base, the refuge is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the longleaf pine ecosystem. Visitors can enjoy hiking on trails that weave through rugged terrain, home to unique flora and fauna.
