Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Located on the southern shore of the Potomac River in Virginia, Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge encompasses approximately 2,277 acres of forested and wetland habitat. Established in 1969, the refuge was created to protect the nesting bald eagle population, which was declining at the time.
