About Peach Bottom Wildlife Management Area

Peach Bottom Wildlife Management Area (WMA) encompasses over 2,500 acres in York and Lancaster counties along the Susquehanna River. The terrain in the area varies from forested ridges and farmland to riverine wetlands, making it an important refuge for a broad range of wildlife species. Historically, the area has been managed to support game species such as white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and waterfowl, while maintaining habitats conducive to many songbirds, raptors, and aquatic life. The proximity to the Susquehanna River supports excellent fishing opportunities featuring smallmouth bass, catfish, and panfish. Visitors can explore a network of maintained trails that weave through woodlands, along fields, and near wetlands, offering varied hiking and mountain biking experiences. The area also provides multiple hunting zones and designated waterfowl viewing spots during regulated seasons. Notably, the WMA acts as a critical migratory corridor for birds, making it a favored destination for birdwatchers. Interpretive signage along key trails educates visitors about the region's ecological significance and local wildlife. Due to its accessibility from nearby communities and diverse recreational offering, Peach Bottom WMA appeals to both casual outdoor enthusiasts and avid hunters or anglers.
