Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
The Spokane River Centennial State Park Trail spans approximately 37.5 miles from the border between Idaho and Washington to Nine Mile Falls, Washington. Following the route of the Spokane River, the trail provides a scenic passage through both urban and natural environments. The area is steeped in history, dating back to its use by Native American tribes and later Samuel Garver’s ferry service in the 1800s. Today, the trail offers a diverse array of recreational opportunities, including hiking, biking, and in certain sections, equestrian activities. Rich with wildlife such as osprey and bald eagles, outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy both the river's tranquil scenes and the adjacent forested regions. The trail connects with numerous parks and natural areas, offering users a varied landscape and cultural experiences, with easy access points from nearby metropolitan areas. Managed as a linear state park, this trail is a popular attraction for both locals and visitors.
