San Augustine State Park is located in San Augustine County in East Texas. Occupying over 500 acres, the park is distinguished by its expansive stands of loblolly pines and hardwood trees typical of the Piney Woods region. The park's terrain is relatively flat with gentle slopes and a rich understory of native shrubs and ground cover. Established in 1934, much of the park's infrastructure and landscape improvements were developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s, lending it historical significance. Visitors can enjoy more than 3 miles of hiking trails through shady forests, providing excellent opportunities to observe local wildlife such as white-tailed deer, various bird species, and small mammals.
