About Morrow Lake State Park

Morrow Lake State Park offers a peaceful natural setting ideal for boating, fishing, hiking, and camping on the shores of a 385-acre reservoir surrounded by rolling hills and forest.

Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Morrow Lake State Park is located in Champaign County, Ohio, and centers on the 385-acre Morrow Lake, formed by damming Muddy Creek. The park's geography features gently rolling terrain with mixed hardwood forests, wetlands, and open water, providing habitat for diverse wildlife including waterfowl, deer, and various fish species. Established in 1950, the park was initially created for flood control and to provide outdoor recreation opportunities. Today, it attracts anglers seeking largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie, as well as boaters who enjoy its calm waters with a no-wake motor rule. The park features over 8 miles of multi-use trails that wind through woodlands and along the lake’s edge, suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing in winter. Several well-maintained campgrounds with modern amenities offer numerous camping options ranging from tent sites to RV spots. Morrow Lake also has picnic areas, a beach for swimming, and boat rentals. Bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts will find good opportunities to observe migratory waterfowl and native Ohio wildlife within its protected area. The park is family-friendly with accessible facilities and educational programs during peak season. Visitors appreciate the combination of water-based recreation and quiet forest trails that make Morrow Lake State Park a versatile outdoor destination.
