Located along the wild Atlantic coast of northwest County Mayo, Ireland, the Glenamoy Bog Complex Special Area of Conservation (SAC) encompasses a vast expanse of blanket bog, raised bogs, wet heaths, and wet grasslands. The area is distinguished by its extensive peatlands, which have formed over thousands of years and serve as vital carbon sinks. Geographically, the complex stretches over approximately 12,000 hectares, featuring striking landscapes shaped by oceanic weather patterns, frequent mists, and harsh Atlantic winds.
