Great Parks of Hamilton County is a public park district that manages a system of 20 parks encompassing more than 16,000 acres in and around Cincinnati, Ohio. The parks vary widely in landscape and ecological features, including forests, wetlands, meadows, and riverfront areas along the Ohio River. These protected lands provide habitat for native wildlife such as white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and numerous migratory birds. Originating in 1925, Great Parks has grown to emphasize conservation, outdoor recreation, and environmental education. Visitors can explore an extensive network of over 120 miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails, as well as facilities for fishing and paddle sports on the Great Miami and Ohio Rivers. Notable attractions within the system include the expansive Miami Whitewater Forest, which offers backcountry camping and a mountain bike skills area; Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve known for its sculptured rock formations and wildflower meadows; and Winton Woods, home to a large lake used for boating and fishing.
