About Coyote Hills Regional Park

Coyote Hills Regional Park is located in the eastern part of Fremont, California, overlooking the San Francisco Bay. The park spans a mix of freshwater marshes, tidal wetlands, and rolling grassy hills formed from ancient bay sediments. The varied terrain supports a wide range of native and migratory wildlife, including numerous bird species, deer, and small mammals. Visitors can explore more than 15 miles of well-maintained trails winding through seasonal wetlands, oak woodlands, and historic Native American archaeological sites. The park holds cultural significance for the Ohlone people, with preserved shellmounds and interpretive signage that highlights indigenous heritage and local ecology. Recreational opportunities include hiking, biking, horseback riding, birdwatching, kayaking in the marsh areas, and fishing along the bay shoreline. The Visitor Center offers educational exhibits about the natural environment and history of the area. From the higher hills, visitors are rewarded with sweeping views of the bay, nearby Dumbarton Bridge, and distant Silicon Valley skyline. Coyote Hills Regional Park is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking accessible nature experiences coupled with cultural insights just a short drive from urban centers.
