Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Watertown Recreation Area is a 4,448-acre state-managed property located in Oakland County, Michigan. Characterized by a mix of hardwood forest, wetlands, and kettle lakes, the area provides a wide range of recreational activities for outdoor enthusiasts. The terrain features rolling hills and glacial topography that support diverse plant and animal species, including white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and a variety of waterfowl. Originally acquired and developed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as a recreation area, Watertown offers both day-use and camping facilities. The park includes over 12 miles of multi-use trails that attract mountain bikers and hikers, weaving through scenic woodlands and around lakes.
