Grandstaff Canyon National Recreation Trail is a true gem located near Moab, Utah. The trail runs through a stunning red rock canyon and features diverse geological formations, including the highlight of Morning Glory Natural Bridge, which towers 243 feet above the canyon floor. This area provides not only dramatic landscapes but also a peek into the ecological diversity of the high desert environment. The trail, once known as Negro Bill Canyon, was renamed to honor William Grandstaff, an African American cowboy and early Moab settler. The trail itself is a 4.5-mile round-trip journey, following a stream lined with cottonwoods and willows, making it a pleasant and shaded hike, particularly in the arid climate of Utah. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of the canyon while partaking in recreational activities like hiking, picnicking, and photography.
