Located in the Mesabi Iron Range near Biwabik, Minnesota, Giants Ridge Recreation Area spans a varied landscape of forested hills, wetlands, and lakes. The area sits within the Laurentian Mixed Forest Province, offering a blend of pine, spruce, birch, and aspen that supports diverse wildlife including deer, foxes, and an assortment of bird species. Established in the early 1970s as a ski area to bring economic development to the Iron Range region, Giants Ridge has evolved into a year-round recreational hub. The winter months attract visitors for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling, with over 35 downhill slopes and 40 kilometers of groomed Nordic ski trails. Summer and fall open up opportunities for mountain biking on expertly maintained single-track trails, hiking, fishing in small lakes, and birdwatching. The terrain features scenic overlooks with panoramic views of the surrounding forested hills.
