About Forks of the Credit Provincial Park

Forks of the Credit Provincial Park offers visitors scenic hiking trails, rugged riverbanks, and beautiful views of the Credit River, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts near Toronto.

Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Forks of the Credit Provincial Park, located in Caledon, Ontario, protects the scenic Forks of the Credit River valley where the East and West branches of the river merge. The park features a diverse landscape of steep slopes, forested areas, rock outcrops, and river valleys. It is part of the larger Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Reserve and offers a rich variety of flora and fauna, including mixed hardwood forests and various bird species. Historically, the park area was part of early settlement routes and features remnants of old mill sites and quarry workings that hint at its cultural heritage. Outdoor recreation opportunities include hiking, mountain biking, birdwatching, picnicking, and fishing. One of the park’s notable landmarks is the beautiful Cataract Falls, especially impressive during spring runoff. The park’s extensive trail network ranges from easy to moderate difficulty, winding through hardwood forests and along the river’s edge. Visitors are drawn to its accessibility from the Greater Toronto Area, tranquil natural environment, and the glimpse it offers into southern Ontario’s unique Niagara Escarpment ecosystem.
