Palacios Prairie Preserve Adventures

Palacios Prairie Preserve is a protected natural area located near Palacios, Texas, dedicated to preserving the few remaining acres of native coastal tallgrass prairie, a habitat that once covered large portions of the Texas Gulf Coast. Spanning approximately 3,000 acres, the preserve showcases diverse plant life including native grasses such as Indiangrass, switchgrass, and little bluestem alongside a variety of wildflowers that bloom seasonally. The ecosystem supports an array of wildlife including grassland birds like bobwhite quail, meadowlarks, and the endangered Attwater's prairie chicken, as well as small mammals and reptiles adapted to prairie environments.
