The reserve encompasses the towering Köýtendag Range, featuring the highest peaks in Turkmenistan, such as Mount Aýrybaba at 3,137 meters. The reserve protects a diverse range of habitats, from mountainous steppe and juniper forests to spring-fed rivers and deep canyons. Visitors to Köýtendag can explore scenic hiking routes across rugged peaks, descend into sublime caves, and experience authentic, untouched nature far from urban centers. The reserve's remoteness and challenging terrain appeal to adventurous trekkers and naturalists interested in geology, speleology, and wildlife.
