With elevations reaching over 2,000 meters, the park is characterized by its steep peaks, deep valleys, and glacial cirques, which create a stunning and diverse landscape. Ecologically, the area hosts dense forests dominated by beech, oak, and pine, and supports a rich faunal diversity including populations of Iberian wolves, roe deer, wild boar, and golden eagles, making it a top destination for wildlife enthusiasts. The park also preserves traditional pastoral activities, some ancient villages, and historic sites such as hermitages and castles, reflecting a deep cultural heritage. Hiking and mountain biking trails wind throughout the park, from gentle valley routes to challenging alpine paths. Birdwatching, mushroom picking, and fishing in pristine mountain streams are popular seasonal pursuits. Notable landmarks include the Pico San Lorenzo, the highest summit in the Sierra de la Demanda, and the medieval town of Pineda de la Sierra, which serves as a gateway to the park.
