About Vratna Gates
Vratna Gates consist of three large natural stone arches—known as the Gates of Vratna—carved over millennia by the Vratna River in eastern Serbia. This natural formation is not only a geological wonder but also part of the beautiful Vratna river canyon, offering a picturesque landscape for visitors. The tallest of these arches, known as the Big Gate, reaches an impressive height of up to 30 meters. The area's lush forests are home to diverse flora and fauna, offering excellent opportunities for hiking and bird-watching. Historically, the Vratna region is also notable for its proximity to Vratna Monastery, a cultural landmark that dates back to the 14th century. Visitors can enjoy the serene, less-traveled trails and marvel at the gates' grandeur, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike.
