Mountain Longleaf National Wildlife Refuge covers over 9,000 acres and showcases a diverse ecosystem primarily composed of longleaf pine forests, a habitat that has drastically diminished over the centuries. Established in 2003 on a portion of the former Fort McClellan Army Base, the refuge is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the longleaf pine ecosystem.
