Yellowbank Wildlife Management Area is a rich natural habitat along the Ohio River, offering excellent opportunities for wildlife observation, hunting, and fishing in a diverse riverside ecosystem.

Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Yellowbank Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is located in western Kentucky along the Ohio River, primarily within Henderson and Union counties. This protected area encompasses floodplain forests, wetlands, and riverine habitats that support a variety of plant and animal species. Key ecological features include bottomland hardwood forests, seasonal wetlands, and riparian corridors that serve as important stopover habitats for migratory birds. Established to conserve wildlife habitat and provide public recreational opportunities, Yellowbank WMA is managed by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. It is a popular destination for duck, deer, wild turkey hunting, as well as year-round fishing, especially for catfish and bass. Anglers also enjoy access to the Ohio River shoreline within the area. Several miles of informal walking trails and access points allow visitors to explore the natural surroundings, providing ample opportunities for bird watching and nature photography.
